King's High's Head of Netball appointed to coach elite UK team
Jen Hinton shares her expertise with our pupil Netballers and Wales’ Celtic Dragons
Jen Hinton, Head of Netball at King’s High and Warwick Preparatory School, has been appointed to the management team of one of the UK’s premier Netball teams. Jen was appointed Assistant Coach to the Celtic Dragons, Wales’ only team in the prestigious Vitality Netball Superleague.
Sarah Parkinson-Mills, Director of Sport for King’s High and Warwick Prep, says: ‘This is absolutely huge – it's the equivalent of having an assistant Premier League football manager in our PE department!’
The Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) is proof of the continuing rise of elite women’s sport. Since being founded in 2005, the Superleague has become the UK’s top-level competition, attracting players from around the globe. The Celtic Dragons are one of 11 UK teams that take part. Based at the Wales National Centre in Cardiff, the Dragons combine the finest players from all over Wales with international talent.
Jen Hinton previously worked for three seasons with Wasps Netball in Coventry, as their Under 21 NPL Assistant Coach. The Under 21s were twice undefeated champions, and silver medallists. She says: ‘I am super excited to be back in the elite environment working with athletes who are at the top of their game and I look forward to using my knowledge to continue to develop the Netball at King’s High School, and possibly gain a few Dragons fans!’
