King's High promotes online safety

Four of King’s High’s team of Wellbeing Ambassadors - Leah, Grace, Gigi and Rosie – were invited to do a radio interview with Free Radio in support of Safer Internet Day. Free Radio is an independent local radio station that serves Birmingham, the Black Country, Shropshire, Coventry & Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.  The girls’ advice on internet safety was played across the station’s news bulletins.    The girls spoke about their training with the Diana Award (the late Princess Diana’s charity, that works to keep young people safe online), and Gigi’s selection to the national Diana Award Youth Board.  They told of their work supporting fellow students, and how they tailor advice for different age groups, and gave practical advice on privacy settings and data, reinforcing Safer Internet Day’s central message: ‘Make sure you know what you are consenting to when you click Accept.’ The school’s Wellbeing team created a series of posters and messages, for display around school and digitally, and gave a powerful Assembly on internet safety to fellow pupils.
