King's High to exhibit at Warwickshire Open Studios

For the first time, King's High is taking part in Warwickshire Open Studios. Visitors are invited to come and view pupils’ GCSE and A Level Exhibition in our purpose-built Art studios on Friday, 1 July (4.30pm - 7.30pm) and Saturday, 2 July (10am - 1pm).

Since 2000, Warwickshire Open Studios has grown to become the largest annual exhibition of visual art in Coventry and Warwickshire, and their Summer Art Weeks have become a popular fixture in the calendar. Over 400 artists and makers exhibit their work at 149 different venues - from bars to barns, cafes to churches, galleries to gazebos - and now at King's High!

Sarah Jordan, Director of Art, says: ‘We are really excited to showcase our pupils’ wonderful GCSE and A Level Artwork, and to be taking part in Warwickshire Open Studios. It is such a fabulous celebration of creativity across Coventry and Warwickshire.’

Pictured above is an example of Art Scholar, Laura's A Level work - a Woven Installation, entitled 'A Millisecond a Day'. Laura displayed her weave at the Climate Change Fair and Art Exhibition, pupils organised for COP26, and invited everyone to engage with her piece, and weave in strips of plastic, string and fabric. Many painstaking hours later, Laura's  two-metre work was completed.  Our pupils' GCSE Artwork alone displays a huge variety of techniques: ceramics, painting, screenprinting, lino printing, textiles, drawing, mono printing, photography, film-making, and cyanotype (camera-less photography).

Everyone is warmly invited to come and enjoy the exhibition. Our students put such long hours, imagination and passion into their work, and the result is a feast for the senses.
