The Measured Difference: Value Added at King’s High

"At King’s High, we believe that the true measure of success goes beyond headline grades. While our GCSE results are exceptional, it is our value added that tells the most powerful story. When pupils join us in Year 7, they sit nationally standardised tests that generate predictions for the GCSE grades they are expected to achieve at 16. These baseline predictions are benchmarked against pupils of similar ability across the country, meaning value added is the clearest measure of the difference a school makes. At King’s High, that difference is exceptional, reflecting the outstanding teaching and learning that supports every pupil, across all abilities.

"On average, our pupils achieve close to a full grade higher in every subject than their baseline predictions suggest. In practice, this means that a pupil nationally predicted a grade 6 typically achieves a grade 7 at King’s High. This is not simply about statistics, but about unlocking potential: pupils consistently surpass expectations, growing in confidence and ability through a King’s High education. Such progress is only possible in an environment where inspirational teaching meets a culture of ambition, support, and care.

"When this individual progress is taken across the whole year group, the impact is extraordinary. Collectively, our pupils achieved close to 1,000 grades higher than baseline predictions. This is clear evidence that a King’s High education is transformative – it changes lives, broadening horizons and opening doors to futures that exceed all expectations."
